November Beauty Favorites

Can you believe we're nearing the end of 2015? I feel like December snuck up out of nowhere, and to be honest, I'm still in denial about it. Just yesterday, I was strolling around in my capri leggings and lightweight jacket like 40 degrees ain't no thing. Well, turns out it is a thing and my body has been cursing me for not updating my wardrobe for Winter. Typically, I have oily skin all year round, but this year I noticed it becoming more dry and tight with the cold weather. So, this past month I had to incorporate some new items into my routine that have helped lock in the moisture and keep me warm:

1. Eve Lom Cleansing Muslin Cloths, $22 (3 pack)

A few months ago, I switched from makeup remover wipes to cleansing oil as the first step in my nighttime skincare routine. With the oil, I needed something to wipe off the makeup it breaks down before going in with face wash, and these muslin cloths were the perfect solution. Unlike normal washcloths, these are lightweight and porous, making them easy to rinse clean after each use. The added bonus is that they gently exfoliate your skin while removing the excess oil and makeup. For a spa-like effect, I soak the cloth in hot water, wring out, and lay over my face for 30 seconds before wiping clean.

2. Thayer Lavender Witch Hazel, $8.88

The main ingredient in most toners is witch hazel, and while toner isn't absolutely necessary, it's become a mainstay in my skincare routine because (1) it picks up any dirt and makeup my cleanser might have missed, (2) it leaves my skin feeling cool and refreshed, and (3) this one in particular contains aloe vera, which not only soothes redness and inflammation, but also hydrates my skin, which is a must in the cold weather.

3. Women's Cozy Plaid Blanket Wrap Scarf, $14 (on sale!)

My wardrobe may need updating, but at least my scarf game is on point. This one is nice and soft and big enough to double as a blanket. Since my basic clothing items are black, I love the ease of throwing this on and adding a nice pop of holiday color to my outfit. Target carries other colors and style variations, and there's an online sale going on, so I'd recommend grabbing 'em quick!

4. Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo, $28 (4.4 oz)

Washing your hair every day strips it of its oils, which are necessary to prevent drying out and subsequent breakage, especially in the winter months. Personally, I wash my hair only twice a week. On days of unwash, if my hair feels greasy, I use dry shampoo. I love this one because not only does it absorb excess oil, but it also texturizes and volumizes my hair. Oh, and the smell is amazing and lasts long. I want to try the Nirvana Black scent next!

5. Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, $7.99

Even though my skin is drier than usual, I still get oily in my t-zone throughout the day. When I want to control the oil in that area, or I just want more coverage than what a BB or CC cream can offer, I've been reaching for this foundation. It's not overly drying, it minimizes the appearance of pores, and gives the skin a smooth, demi-matte finish. To really keep the oil at bay, set this with Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder. If you normally have dry skin, try Maybelline's Dewy + Smooth alternative.

Do you notice changes in your skin during the Winter? If so, what items have you had to incorporate into your routine as a result?
